A Family Time Capsule to Celebrate Six Decades of Life

“What began as a joke about bitcoins turned into a family legacy filled with humor, love, and meaning.”

 The Celebration

For his 60th birthday, Jacobo Husny Hanono gathered his family for a celebration that blended joy, emotion, and unforgettable moments. Professional chef Sofía Birch prepared a carefully designed menu that combined traditional flavors with modern touches, turning the meal into an experience that evoked both nostalgia and smiles. The table setting and decoration reflected the warmth and attention to detail that defined the entire day.

Between laughter, hugs, and stories shared, every detail became an expression of affection and closeness, reinforcing family bonds and creating an atmosphere where emotion and fun came together perfectly.

How the Time Capsule Came to Be

The idea of creating a family time capsule was born in a lighthearted, spontaneous way. For weeks, Jacobo’s children had playfully teased him, joking that they wanted him to give them a bitcoin as a gift. Amid the laughter and witty remarks, someone suggested, “If we’re talking about bitcoins and saving things of value, why not save memories too?”

From that simple idea came a creative and emotional project: to build a physical space where each family member could leave an object with personal or sentimental value. With the help of a builder, a wall was erected to seal a small room in the house, destined to hold the family’s most meaningful keepsakes. A week before the celebration, each member received a small box to choose what they wanted to preserve.

 The Memories

On the day of the celebration, the time capsule was filled with symbolic treasures: Jacobo’s six-month-old grandson placed his pacifiers inside, Jacobo included a Walkman and letters to his “future self,” and the family added a digital wallet containing bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies, along with the security words needed to access it. Each item reflected the family’s unique mix of humor, affection, and nostalgia—turning everyday moments into a legacy for future generations.

 The Gifts and the Laughter

The gifts were as funny as they were meaningful. Jacobo’s children gave him a symbolic card “granting access to any global meeting,” a playful nod to their running joke about the business meetings he’s “never invited” to. His grandchildren gifted him paints, in reference to the times he jokes, “Am I invisible, or why didn’t you say hi to me?” when they arrive.

Each present was a reflection of the family’s closeness, where humor and love go hand in hand, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

 A Legacy for the Future

Two conditions were set for opening the time capsule: the first, to wait until Jacobo’s 80th birthday; the second, if life decides otherwise, that his family would be the ones to open it. In that way, the memories and messages stored inside will remain protected—ready to be rediscovered by those who value family history and shared moments.

What began as a simple joke about bitcoins became a meaningful act of unity, a tribute to memory, and a family project that looks toward the future. In the end, the true treasures are not always material—they live in the bonds we share and the memories we create together.
